1. Identify the problem.

2. Confirm basic compatibility.

3. Confirm voltage and current limits.
Purpose: understand which spec-sheet figure is the actual safety limit. Main guide: Voc vs Vmp Explained. Move on when: you’ve confirmed your panel’s Voc is within your station’s input limit.

4. Identify the connector and check polarity.
Purpose: confirm the physical connection before wiring anything. Essential Safety and Compatibility Checks

Before connecting any third-party solar panel to a portable power station, confirm:

  • Voltage and input-limit compatibility (Stages 2-3 above).
  • Connector type and polarity (Stage 4 above).
  • Manufacturer-published limits for both the panel and the station โ€” these vary by model and generation.
  • No modified, improvised, or unverified cables or adapters.
  • If you can’t confirm any of the above from official documentation, treat the setup as unverified and hold off connecting it until you can.
